Tips from a professional for a long pruning shear life

Correct sharpening for
straight anvil blade

Sharpen the blade of the anvil pruning shears at 15° to max. 20° on both sides: 3-4 strokes per side.
Then deburr once at approx. 25° on both sides with light pressure.

Correct sharpening for
curved anvil blade

Sharpen the blade of the anvil pruning shears at 15° to max. 20° on both sides: 3-4 strokes per side.
Then deburr once at approx. 25° on both sides with light pressure.

Correct sharpening for
bypass blade

Sharpen the blade of the bypass pruning shears on one side only at 15° to max. 20° from the outside: 4-5 strokes.
Then deburr once at approx. 25° on the inside of the blade with light pressure.
