This is Original LÖWE!
From innovators to global market leaders
Our history
Inventors and pioneers of sustainability.
Our mission statement
What makes us cutting experts?
Walther Schröder's groundbreaking invention

In 1923, the visionary founder of the company Walther Schröder presented a cutting-edge innovation: the world's first anvil pruners. The lion on a cogwheel logo was registered with the German Imperial Patent Office in 1925. The Original LÖWE cutting principle that was developed as a result uses a drawing blade against a fixed anvil and revolutionised the world of cutting.

Even today, the Original LÖWE 1 can still be found in an almost unchanged form in our product range and the anvil principle is used in many of our current cutter and pruner models.

The success story of a globally registered brand

Original LÖWE is a globally registered brand that established itself as a market leader through unrivalled quality. When they were introduced in 1923, Original LÖWE pruners were already clearly superior to the pruners forged from two halves that had been in use before then – and they still have this advantage today.

Even back then, the Original LÖWE 1 cut remarkably easily, was noticeably light and had replaceable wear parts. These spare parts are still available now 100 years later. As we can see, our company was a pioneer of sustainability a century ago. Our models are perfectly suited to their respective tasks and impressively durable.

Unique design and recognition value

The classic Original LÖWE cutters and pruners have an unmistakable, distinct appearance with orange handles and solid, chrome-plated bodies. Due to the large number of competing products, it is crucial that the shape, colour and quality of our cutters/pruners stand out from the crowd and are instantly recognisable.

The centenary edition
Modern technology meets nostalgic design

To mark our 100th anniversary, we have created a special centenary edition – the Original LÖWE 1.100 – the look of which is inspired by our very first pruners.

The modern technology of these pruners harmonises perfectly with the vintage design. Both the font and the logo are almost identical to that of our pruners from the 1920s. The metal handles are decorated with ornate engravings of plant tendrils to give additional slip resistance and grip.

The Original LÖWE 1.100 cuts branches up to 25 mm in diameter smoothly and easily and is suitable for almost all types of wood. The special edition is rounded off with nostalgic packaging.

Continuous improvement and close customer relationships

We continuously improve and optimise our products. Working in close co-operation with our customers, we have developed a further 100 cutter and pruner models over the years that precisely meet their needs. We incorporate their valuable experience and knowledge into our design and development process.

Our continuing success is the best proof of the unique function and quality of Original LÖWE cutters and pruners, which have been appreciated by professionals in over 100 countries on all continents for many decades.
